Texas Bankers Association chooses FirstBank Southwest banker for annual award.
Amarillo, TX – FirstBank Southwest (FBSW) is thrilled to announce that Bowden Jones Jr., EVP/Chief Consumer Officer, was honored as a 2020 Emerging Leader in Banking by the Texas Bankers Association (TBA). As a winner, Jones will also be selected to serve a one-year term on the TBA’s Bank Leadership Council.
FBSW CEO, Andy Marshall, chose to nominate Jones for this prestigious award due to his extensive work building community in the Amarillo area. “As a banker, he does exactly what he does when addressing community needs: He defines the reality to be achieved, inspires others to follow, gives them clear guidance, training, and expectations, and then leads them to success,” Marshall said.
Jones is the first person to hold the new position of Chief Consumer Officer at FBSW. The bank consolidated most of its consumer-facing lines of business under his leadership. In the first six months of holding this role, Jones implemented and rolled out the bank’s first Customer Relationship Management (CRM) System and is working on a retail incentive plan tailored around that system.
In addition to his work at FBSW, Jones coordinates community efforts in North Amarillo. Jones and five others created the Northside Toy Drive to provide Christmas gifts to children in disadvantaged areas. He is also part of the organizing group creating a non-profit industrial laundry facility in North Amarillo.
The Emerging Leader Award was created to honor bankers who have made a positive impact on the banking industry and are leaders in their bank. To receive this honor, bankers must have five years of experience in banking, be an employee of a TBA-member banking institution and be nominated by the bank president, CEO or board chairman.
