Texas Bankers Foundation, the charitable arm of the Texas Bankers Association, chooses FirstBank Southwest banker for annual award.
Amarillo, TX – FirstBank Southwest (“FBSW”) is excited to announce that Stella Maddox, SVP/ Senior Credit Officer, was honored as a 2021 Emerging Leader in Banking by the Texas Bankers Foundation, the charitable arm of the Texas Bankers Association (“TBA”). As a winner, Maddox will also be selected to serve a one-year term on the TBA’s Bank Leadership Council.
FBSW CEO, Andy Marshall, chose to nominate Maddox for this prestigious award due to her being an outstanding banking professional, “I put Stella at the top of the list. While she made the move to FBSW and Amarillo on faith, she’s put down roots here because she’s building something that will last longer after she and I retire. She is an outstanding banking professional and an even better person!” Marshall said.
“I am proud to be associated with her! As you will find, you will be equally as proud when you spend time with her in the future. She’s the future of FirstBank Southwest.”
In her time with FBSW, Maddox has virtually rewritten and greatly expanded our Credit Policy. She took our fledgling use of our lending software system and made it into the platform with which all of FBSW’s credit decisions are made. In conjunction with the Chief Lending Officer and the Loan Review function, she has expanded our use of the lending software system into the modeling of the bank’s ALLL reserve computations. Lastly, through her leadership of the Loan Operations team, she remains instrumental in the on-going conversion of our core system; a huge undertaking!
Maddox is the first person to hold the new position of Senior Credit Officer at FBSW. She in effect wrote, and continues to write, her job description every working day. Marshall continues, “In all aspects of her continually expanding job function, she has done an OUTSTANDING job and continues to be one of the most valuable assets of this bank.”
The Emerging Leader Award was created to honor bankers who have made a positive impact on the banking industry and are leaders in their bank. To receive this honor, bankers must have five years of experience in banking, be an employee of a TBA-member banking institution and be nominated by the bank president, CEO or board chairman.
