AMARILLO, TX –FirstBank Southwest (FBSW) has received the Community Spirit Award for Bank Culture from the Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT) for its Faith. Family. Bank. Fund, an initiative that grew from the bank’s response to the devastating Perryton tornado in 2023. The award is part of IBAT’s Best of Community Banking Awards program and recognizes outstanding bank culture initiatives across Texas.
Following the Perryton tornado, FBSW employees and community members came together to provide financial assistance to those impacted by the disaster. What began as a relief effort evolved into the Faith. Family. Bank. Fund, an employee-funded assistance program that continues to support team members facing unexpected hardships.
“The tornado brought out the best in people,” said Andy Marshall, President and CEO of FirstBank Southwest. “We saw employees, customers, and community members come together to help those who were hurting. What began in response to that moment has grown into a program that continues to help our employees when life takes an unexpected turn. I’m proud of the people who have kept that spirit alive.”
The Best of Community Banking Awards recognize Texas community banks for their commitment to the people and communities they serve.
