CANYON, TX – FirstBank Southwest (“FBSW”) is proud to announce its long-anticipated entry into the Canyon market, marking an important milestone for a community the bank has long considered home.

While this is FirstBank Southwest’s first physical location in Canyon, the bank’s ties to the community are well established. Many employees live in Canyon, others are alumni of Canyon Independent School District and West Texas A&M University, and long-standing customer relationships already connect the bank to the heart of the community. Opening a Canyon branch is a natural next step in strengthening those connections and expanding access to relationship-driven banking.

A temporary Canyon branch will open soon at 305 15th Street, Canyon, TX 79015, offering full-service banking while the bank builds its permanent home along 4th Avenue.

“We are beyond excited to officially bring FirstBank Southwest to Canyon,” said Andy Marshall, President and CEO of FirstBank Southwest. “This community has been part of who we are for a long time through our employees, our customers, and our relationships. Establishing a physical presence here is a natural step and reinforces our commitment to community banking done the right way — personal, local, and relationship-driven.”

The Canyon market will be led by Canyon Market President Paul De Leon, who joined FirstBank Southwest in October of 2025 and whose career and personal life reflect the very principles of community banking that FirstBank Southwest values.

Born in Amarillo and raised in Canyon, De Leon is a graduate of Canyon High School and began his banking career in his hometown shortly after graduation as a part-time teller with Happy State Bank while completing his undergraduate studies.

After earning his degree from West Texas A&M University’s College of Business, De Leon moved into commercial credit in March 2017, where he built a strong foundation in credit analysis and underwriting. He began lending in early 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, working closely with local businesses and families during a critical time for the community.

In June 2023, De Leon graduated from the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University, further strengthening his leadership and commercial banking expertise.

“Canyon has always been home to me,” said Paul De Leon, Canyon Market President. “This community shaped who I am — personally and professionally. To have the opportunity to lead FirstBank Southwest’s expansion here is incredibly meaningful. Community banking is about relationships, service, and showing up for people when it matters most, and that philosophy aligns perfectly with Canyon and with FirstBank Southwest.”

De Leon and his wife, Morgan, are active members of the community and proud supporters of local organizations. He currently serves as Treasurer for both the Better Business Bureau of Amarillo and Fill With Hope, where he also helps distribute monthly Hope Totes to Pinnacle Intermediate School and Sundown Lane Elementary School. Together, they are committed to serving both their community and the people who call it home.

FirstBank Southwest will celebrate the opening of its temporary Canyon location with a full week of activities. Community members are encouraged to follow FirstBank Southwest on social media for event details and opening-week updates.

With deep local ties, an experienced leadership team, and a long-term commitment to Canyon, FirstBank Southwest looks forward to serving this community for generations to come.
